Answering Buyer Questions Before They Ask

KinkCoach · · 3 min read

Most sellers we talk to at KinkCoach notice the same pattern. The messages that arrive before a sale are rarely unusual. They are the same handful of questions, asked by different buyers, week after week. Every one of those questions is a small delay between a buyer being interested and a buyer paying.

Keep a list of what people ask

For a fortnight, jot down every question you receive before a sale. Sizing, materials, how long an item has been worn, how it will be packed and how quickly it will be sent tend to top the list. Patterns show up quickly.

Answer them in the listing itself

Add a short section near the end of each description with the answers. Keep each one to a sentence. A buyer who finds the answer straight away is far more likely to buy there and then than one who has to message and wait.

Use the same wording everywhere

If you list on more than one site, keep these answers identical across all of them. Buyers who find you in two places see the same promises, and you only have to remember one version of your own rules.

Point to your policies

Longer topics such as returns or custom work belong in your shop policies rather than every listing. A single line saying where to find them is enough.

Review it now and then

New questions appear as your shop grows. Every few months, look at what people have been asking lately and add anything that keeps coming up.
