Planning Your Shop a Season Ahead
Most independent sellers run their shop a week at a time. That works until something predictable arrives, a holiday, a change in the weather, a quiet month, and catches you without the right listings ready. A plan for the next three months takes an hour to make and saves far more than that.
Mark the dates you already know
Start with a calendar for the season and note anything you know is coming: holidays, paydays, any time you will be away. These are the points your plan should work around.
Decide what you want to sell more of
Look at what sold well recently and what buyers keep asking about. Pick two or three things you want to push this season. A short, clear focus is easier to act on than a long list of good intentions.
Work backwards from each busy point
For each date that matters, ask what needs to be ready a week or two before it. New listings, fresh photographs, enough packing supplies. Writing these down as small tasks with their own dates turns a vague plan into something you can actually do.
Leave gaps on purpose
A plan with every day filled breaks the first time something unexpected happens. Keep some weeks light so there is room for custom requests, a slow patch or simply a rest.
Check it once a month
At the start of each month, look at the plan against what actually happened. Move what slipped, drop what no longer makes sense and add anything new. A plan you adjust is far more useful than a perfect one you never look at again.
Keep it on one page
The best plan is one you can read in a minute. A single page with dates, focus and a handful of tasks is enough to keep your shop a step ahead rather than a step behind.
