Reading the Seasons in Your Sales

KinkCoach · · 3 min read

Almost every seller has months when orders slow down. For some it is the weeks after a holiday, for others the height of summer. A quiet month is far less stressful when you have seen it coming and prepared, rather than noticing halfway through that the orders have dried up.

Look back at last year

Your own sales history is the best guide. Note which months were slowest and by how much. Even a rough picture tells you when to expect the dip and how much you may need to make up.

Build up content while it is busy

When you have energy and momentum, make a little extra. A few sets or clips held back for later mean you still have something new to show during the slower weeks, without having to create it under pressure.

Give regulars a reason to return

The buyers who already know you are the easiest to bring back. A new bundle, a returning favourite or a small thank you for loyal customers can turn a quiet week into a steady one.

Use the time for the jobs that wait

Slower months are a good moment to refresh old listings, update photographs and tidy your shop policies. That work pays off when buyers return, because your shop looks cared for the moment they arrive.

Keep showing up

It is tempting to post less when sales are low, but staying visible keeps you in mind for the moment demand picks up again. A steady, modest pace is better than disappearing and starting from nothing.

Plan your money around the dip

If you know a quiet month is coming, set a little aside from the busier ones beforehand. Knowing it is covered takes the pressure off and lets you make better decisions about your shop.
