Shipping Days You Pick and Stick To

KinkCoach · · 3 min read

Posting an order the moment it comes in feels like good service. What it actually does is turn every order into an errand, and the errand always lands on the day you had something else planned.

Two days is usually right

One posting day makes the wait feel long to anyone who ordered just after it. Three or more and you are back to going whenever. Two, spaced across the week, keeps the longest possible wait short while cutting your trips down to a pair.

Say it before anyone has to ask

Put the days where a buyer sees them before they order, not in an apology afterwards. Orders go out on Tuesdays and Fridays is a complete answer, and it removes the single most common anxious message you will otherwise get.

It protects the packing too

Packing three orders in one sitting is faster and neater than three separate rushes. Fewer mistakes, fewer forgotten notes, less chance of the wrong thing in the wrong envelope, which is the error that costs you a buyer rather than an afternoon.

The exception you allow on purpose

Keep one, and decide it in advance. Something genuinely urgent, or something a regular has asked for and is paying for. An exception you chose is fine. An exception you drifted into because you felt guilty is how the fixed days quietly stop existing.

Hold it for a month before judging

The first fortnight feels rigid because you are used to reacting. After that most people find the same thing: the same number of orders, a week that is theirs again, and buyers who are calmer because they were told what to expect and it turned out to be true.
