Writing a Listing, Then Sleeping on It

KinkCoach · · 3 min read

When a new item is ready, it is tempting to photograph it, write the listing and publish it in one sitting. Sometimes that works well. Often, though, a listing written in a rush reads quite differently the next morning. At KinkCoach we suggest a simple habit: write it, save it as a draft, and read it once more before it goes live.

Fresh eyes catch small mistakes

A wrong size, a missing word or a price with a slip of the finger is easy to miss while you are still thinking about the photos. After a night away from it, those small errors stand out straight away.

You notice what a buyer would ask

Reading the listing as if you were seeing it for the first time, you start to spot the questions it leaves open. How long was it worn? What is the fabric? How will it be posted? Answer them in the description and you will get fewer messages asking the same thing.

Your tone settles

A description written late at night can come out too long, too short or not quite in your usual voice. A second read lets you trim it until it sounds like the rest of your shop.

It does not have to slow you down

You can still prepare several listings in one evening. Simply leave them as drafts and publish them the next day after a quick read through. The extra step takes a couple of minutes each.

Keep the habit light

This is not about perfection. One careful read is enough to make most listings clearer, and clearer listings sell more easily.
