Writing a Short Shop Introduction
The few lines at the top of your shop do a lot of work. A new buyer arrives, glances at them and decides in a moment whether to scroll on or leave. At KinkCoach we see the same pattern again and again: the shops that sell steadily have an introduction that is short, warm and clear.
Say who you are
Start with a line about you. It does not need to be personal or revealing. Your shop name, the kind of seller you are and a hint of your personality is plenty. Buyers like to feel there is a real person behind the listings.
Say what you sell
Next, tell buyers what they will find. Keep it simple and specific. A line such as "worn pieces, custom requests and small bundles" tells a buyer far more than a list of every item you have ever made.
Say how you work
Add one or two practical points: how quickly you post, whether you take custom orders and how buyers can reach you. These answer the questions most buyers would otherwise have to ask.
Keep it short
Three or four sentences is enough. Anything longer pushes your listings further down the page, and the listings are what buyers came to see. If you have more to say, put it in your policies or a pinned post.
Read it on a phone
Most buyers will see your introduction on a small screen. Open your shop on your phone and read it as a stranger would. If it takes more than a few seconds, trim it.
Revisit it every few months. As your shop grows, your introduction should grow with it, so it always describes the shop buyers will actually find.
